Travelling around Spain: Aragón (Ariza, Alhama and Calatayud)

Hey my lovely readers, here I am :) I'm finally back from my 4 day-trip around the center of Spain. It's been short but intense I have to say! I didn't imagine I would get to see so many things in a short period of time, haha. I've taken around 232 pictures during those days (lol!) so I'll make two blog posts about the trip, sorry if it's too overwhelming haha!

First, I'm gonna tell you guys where I've been to! I've been staying in Ariza, a 1200 inhabitants village in Zaragoza province in Spain. However, I've been visiting other places around. This post will be about Ariza, Alhama de Aragón and Calatayud.

Primero os voy a contar por dónde he estado!

Alhama is 18km from Ariza, and Calatayud is 40km

The province is in the middle-east of Spain, 400km (aprox) from Barcelona

We arrived to Ariza around 12am after a 4h car drive. We were all exhausted so after q quick lunch we had our deserved nap! My mom's friend showed me my room, kind of childish decorated but adorable, with a very classic and Provence style :)

Isis (my mom's friend daughter's dog), a beautiful Belgian shepherd mix couldn't stop looking at me from the backyard ^_^ She was a super lovely and caring dog, I played with her the whole afternoon!

Book I'm currently reading: Frog - Mo Yan
Libro que me estoy leyendo ahora mismo: Rana - Mo Yan

Later in the afternoon we went to Alhama de Aragón, a small village right next to Ariza. There was a super fancy resort spa there, and since the town is super small we managed to sneak ourselves into and enjoy (at least) of the beautiful view ^_^

Fuente del chorrillo ("Fountain of the tiny squirt")

I loved that lavender/indigo color in the sky during sunset ♥

The next day it rained in the morning so I didn't do much :( Isis and her owner had left already, so what could I do...? However, I made a new friend! I came across with this lovely kitty called Luna ("Moon" in Spanish), she was always waiting for my mom's friend to feed her in the door. She was the only cat who didn't run away from me (snf snf...), so every day after breakfast I went out and pet her for a bit c:

The day finally cleared up in the afternoon, so we took the car and we spent the rest of our day in Calatayud. It's the closest and biggest town near Ariza, very beautiful and with lots of history :) It was conquered by the muslims for 2 centuries, and the name actually comes from the Arabic "Qalat Ayyub" (Ayyub's Fort).

I liked the motto... "Defend what's yours".

Spain's Square or Plaza Mayor in Calatayud is where the town hall is, built in the 16th century and renovated in the 19th century. You can tell the wide variety of colors in the houses and the inclination of its buildings, making it impossible to find any straight, haha!  I asked my parent's friends what happened really, if the inclination was due to an earthquake or some kind of earth moves, but they didn't know :(

Then we had typical tapas for dinner: "Huevos rotos" (scrambled eggs with fried potatoes and jamón), fried pork ear&nose and scrambled blood sausage. Yum yum! I'm gonna miss my food so much XD).

And that's what I did during my first two days :) I'm gonna write the second blog post very soon, alright? As always, thanks for reading and visiting!  ♥ ♥ ♥ Hope you're all enjoying your summer vacation!
